- With Prince Feisal I of Iraq, created the Faisal-Weizmann Agreement as part of Palestine becoming under British rule before the state of Israel

- Involved in military service in the Battle of Latrun, 1956 Suez, 1967 Six-Day and 1973 Yom Kippur Wars respectively
- Infamous nickname of "The Butcher of Beirut" after the 1982 Sabra and Shatila Massacre - in which over 3,000 Palestinian and Lebanese civilians were killed in refugee camps in Beirut by the Phalanges; Lebanese militias. These refugee camps were surrounded by Israeli military forces but somehow the Phalanges got through and carried out the attack
